The Struggle Within, my Ironic Friend

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Within my darkest thoughts,

lay the foundation of mistakes,

on a narrow ledge above the abyss,

teetering from the imbalance of indecision.

How true my mortal savour be,

my God within, a hand extended,

from one foot in the fire shall I rise,

saved once more from my inept, fluidity.

How righteous I can be,

when in reality the flame that fuels me,

bites at my plump arse,

encouraging a fall to oblivion.

Such conflict dominates my reason,

what manifests outwardly,

and what gasps for a breath of freedom,

tussles within my fibres,

until at razors edge I relent,

stepping one side or another.

In the darkness of my thoughts,

comes the lightness of being,

the ingenuous reality of free will,

and what I make of it at end.

How righteous I am in my deception,

how deluded I am in my truth,

when lies are told inside me,

to quell the passion of strife.

All is open, all is right,

my judgements like the siren sound,

return my vessel to port tonight.

      I had some fun with this one, hope you don’t mind;

How righteous I can be, when in reality the flame that fuels me bites at my plump arse, encouraging a fall to oblivion.

How righteous I am in my deception, how deluded I am in my truth when lies are told inside me, to quell the passion of strife.

Within my darkest thoughts, lay the foundation of mistakes, on a narrow ledge above the abyss, teetering from the imbalance of indecision.

In the darkness of my thoughts, comes the lightness of being, the ingenuous reality of free will, and what I make of it at end.

Such conflict dominates my reason, what manifests outwardly and what gasps for a breath of freedom tussles within my fibres, until at razors edge I relent, stepping one side or another.

How true my mortal savior be, my God within, a hand extended, from one foot in the fire shall I rise, saved once more from my inept, fluidity.

All is open, all is right, my judgements like the siren sound, return my vessel to port tonight.

Fair sailing and safe harbor T.
