The Tapestry of our Lives - a Poem

Updated on October 21, 2012

' ... and we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose and design for them.' Romans 8:28

The Tapestry of our Lives

The Tapestry Master with eyes sharp and keen

took His position, surveying the scene

The loom strung and ready, His craftsmen stood by

Poised and awaiting His design to apply

A design rich in colour of beauty and depth

Unique and exquisite in its grandeur and breadth

The design was laid out and the craftsmen began

With a rush of excitement at the wonderful plan

The Master sat back and observed every thread

Directing the work from the plan as it read

But now and again the design went askew

And the beautiful picture of rich colours and hue

Was seemingly altered from how it began

Bearing little resemblance to the original plan

But the Tapestry Master neither panicked or rushed

Re-designed from the errors, while the craftsmen were hushed

As they viewed the new picture in its breathtaking view

Something even more glorious, only the Master could do

For He saw what no other could see or create

A magnificent tapestry, well worth the long wait

For the Master knew well that uniqueness and worth

Come from flaws He transforms, bringing beauty to birth

And the twists and the turns that we take in our life

In the midst of our busyness, pressures and strife

God amazingly turns around for our good

And He gets all the glory, the way that He should.

You are definitely a great poet Marion! The imagery and metaphor of the tapestry written to describe the connection to God's plan, just beautiful! Voted and sharing!

Beautifully written! It describes very well how I see God designing the paths in our lives. :)
