The Thinking Cop

Updated on January 27, 2017

When right is right,

you can finally see the light,

nothing would stop,

as you see that rare species,

the thinking cop,

it’s a city’s dream,

when that cop goes to the crime scene,

gathers the available evidence,

ignores the crowd’s heavy steam,

and dirty back talk,

knows when to stay, and when to walk,

talks to the right people,

and weeds out the fakes,

with any luck discovers

the murderer’s most glaring mistakes,

proof directly in front of his face,

and if the pieces fell into place,

some unlucky citizen gets a pair,

of silver bracelets to wear,

and a wagon ride,

to an over crowded tier,

of the Brooklyn City Jail.
