The Top Soil

Updated on July 2, 2016

The topsoil is carried

Carted away to the other land yonder

To prompt the growth

To multiply the yield

Left to dream is the old old soil

Wizened and dry grit and gravel

Lacking the prompt and the growth

But the advice unheeded

For they too were once dark and fertile

But were bottled and sold

To the other’s garden yonder

Till they lost the colour for used gray

Who blames and who receives?

The topsoil is not watered here and turned

They grow another’s tower

While our pillars still remain

Caged and dwarfed
