The Underworld

Updated on January 9, 2013
Source

Sitting patiently

In a world not your own

Trying to survive

Feeling all alone

Secrets that you must hide

Lying in the mirror

Nothing seems to work out

The way you want it to

Sitting among the ashes

You live in the underworld

Where souls are trapped

Hidden from the sun

You are fueled by the essence

Of it all

The driven

Passion and lust

Lost to all and none

Seducing you to sheer madness

Paper binds you to this life

Keeping you at bay

Stranded here

Left astray

Among your thoughts

To your dismay

Sigh...i don't belong in this crazy world either...i don't understand it one little bit, or...maybe i understand it too well?

That picture is almost as breathtaking as your poem, Caroline. You have a beautiful way with words that packs a whallop!

Voted up. There are many dark thoughts and frustrations that can crop up in this world and bind us. Love your creative way of telling it.

Oh, MD, that blazing sun will blaze again for you and "yours." That day can never come "too soon"! And at the times it does, like the founder of the Methodist Church (John Wesley) your heart will be "strangely warmed."
