"The Unrested Ghosts, The Sorrowful Souls"

The unrested ghosts of parents burnt in their cars on unquiet roads

From sudden whisk of death not one warning disturbed to tell

Or our children’s unfortunate destiny put our families in mourning

The sick who were scared to die; the poor dying in a cold cold night

These unrested ghosts once too inhaled their first hint of air upon birth

These sorrowful souls whom God created were once too loved

They are people who once have not lived alone in laughter and tears

The longing to be heard, to be spoken of, to be remembered

They are here watching you, watching me, watching us all

And we still puzzle ourselves for many do not believe in their ghosts

Of our cold-hearted response to their diminished, confined entity

The unrested ghosts, the sorrowful souls have never left.

† ♥

The unrested ghosts of 9/11, destroyed in half and buried in ash

Or shipwreck souls from the deepest ends on a grave sea bed

The bodies of innocents who bore gunshot holes in war-torn zones

Or the abducted mothers and babes in rivers they are found

These unrested ghosts fill the vast air unseen, in cries we don’t hear

These sorrowful souls exist reminding those living that they have not left

They are our frequent visitors in desperate gasp to touch, to see,

The longing to be heard, to be spoken of, to be remembered

They are here watching you, watching me, watching us all

And we hurt them for many have already simply forgotten their existence

Of what was once a life of happy beginnings and growing dreams

The unrested ghosts, the sorrowful souls have never left.

† ♥

In afterlife, these woeful spirits wander lost in so much sadness

A continuous finding of right answers what stole their lives on Earth

They neither had the time to be most happy, to taste success,

Nor the chance to change, to repent, to be better and promising

To be in the midst of peace and freedom wasn’t meant for them then

For these restless energies before death had not seen them coming

In Purgatory, some of them may temporarily be dwelling in content

In the absence of light, a tunnel dark and dreary, some are lost

Lost souls can’t find their way alone; we have to show them,

Imaginarily holding one’s hand, speaking, guiding towards the light

Prayers, the lamenting souls need prayers offered where in confine

"In loving memory" in our beating hearts must linger so their spirits be sublime

The unrested ghosts, the sorrowful souls have never left the realm of afterlife

‘Til we hear them for God to save their souls to an everlasting peace.

Lost In Time...

Beautiful Lyrics

"LOST IN TIME" - Arcana
One Look from you
I turn my back against the past
Your hand on my cheek
the presence of your soul I feel
A caress from you
I see the future so bright and clear
A word of love in my ear
I am lost in Time
≈ ≈ ≈
As the wind strokes my hair
A shiver in my skin
I see your face in front of me
Forever you are my beloved
≈ ≈ ≈
A smile on your lips
I feel a tear in my eye
Your hand seek mine
I feel your warm embrace
Your arms around me
I close my eyes and hear your heart
A word of faith in my ear
I am lost in your soul

Good day, ananceleste! It was difficult to stop the poem too soon when more thoughts were flowing. I believe what could happen to our souls after they've left our borrowed solid form. Thank you.

Faith Reaper, thank you for your admiration to this poem. Gathering the right images for this poem felt like I was searching for a lost soul and it was getting close to 4 a.m., rushing to finish it for it was getting creepy. :)

Beautiful imagery for the lost souls, and a reminder of so many whose deaths come so suddenly and cruelly.

It is indeed sad for there are many many souls trapped, lost, scared and wanting. Many many of these souls are also hopeful that someone back on Earth would spare them time to boost them up because they are now helpless and only the living can help them...a time to pray and offer masses to them. Thanks a lot picklesandrufus!

If you ever see or meet one, what do you think you'll do? How would you feel? I'd feel stunned but lucky to be able to see. And if a ghost ever comes back to re-appear before you, again and again, this becomes something different and I think that that ghost is trying to communicate or just revisiting a place attached to him. Thank you Mhatter!!! Wishing you a restful day! ~Tess :)

...an epic poetic masterpiece. Epi is speechless. And moved. And in awe of your wonderful creative talent. My fellow Canadian I am so proud of you - dismal rainy day here by the lake - just finishing my pot of coffee after night shift sleep and 'chilling' to Miles Davis' muted trumpet - I sincerely hope all is well with you ....sending you good energy from lake erie time 1:45pm

It's a dreary day here too, epi, but I just like the feel of raindrops touching my head as I walked the dog with no hat, no umbrella. Thank you for your warm comments, just great timing for today's weather *smile*.

I was done with my coffee long ago, now I have an orange drink to finish while Rod Stewart is serenading me with his Great American Songbook vol. II. And my moods' not all too well, but just alright, that is why I am getting carried away with Rod. Thank you for sending good energy from Lake Erie! Cheers to the heavens' rain and to you!
