The Way You Feel

Updated on July 23, 2013

Beyond Tired

So happy to be home

My feet are sore and my eyes are three quarters shut

I don't remember the last half hour of my drive

On auto pilot most of the way

A day of work like so many others

Giving my all and feeling physically and emotionally drained

I could not do any more if I tried

Then I repeat to myself

That's a job well done

As I press on to do just a few more things

My eyes squint as I type my last few words

I feel proud that I had such a productive day

After a nice hot shower my troubles get all washed away

During my night I worked with friends I have known for years

We do a dance a kind of you lead and I follow

Then it's my turn I lead and you follow

A give and take that is so important

For one simple reason

We get things done

Back at the ranch the rain is coming down harder than ever

Boy do I love the sound of rain

Soon I will be asleep

There won't be a care in the world for at least fifteen miles

As my head sinks slowly deep my soft pillow

All I know is that all my thoughts have turned into marshmallows

Little tiny marshmallows for all to eat

Yes there sweet and a great treat

Something we all have had at one time or another

Soft and chewy and just the right size

Popping them in my mouth one at a time

Until I have had my fill

Then this night will also fade and my calories will disappear months later

How I love it

When we all get along and become the best of friends

      Hi dream-on.

Well said. When knowing we've done our best, well earned rest will cause the strength to renew, during sweet as marshmallow sleep. Isn't that wonderful , to be challenged to the outmost and still maintain happines?!

Voteed up, useful and interesting .

Love the message....marshmallows...indeed! I sleep the sleep of the dead. I go to bed each night knowing I've done my best, and if I made mistakes I'll deal with them soon...but for now, blessed sleep. :)

DDE So true and they help us to stay tune with who we are. Our feelings connect us to our world. Express them fully and you will see each day filled with emotion that can drive us on to new heights in so many ways. Sparklea I do not like those restless sleeps when that happpens I clean something and then I go to bed and it's not long when my body drifts to a sleep on a cushion of air.How great is that.Thanx to you both for reading and sharing such wonderful thoughts.

Beyond Tired is a great title for this poem...and who cannot relate to that? Someone I knew a long time ago, said one day, "I'm tired, but it's a 'happy' tired." I've learned a 'happy' tired is going to bed with the feeling of accomplishment, a day well spent and time not wasted. A 'bad' tired is from being lazy all day and getting zero done...wasting time stewing about something I won't remember a week later...starting 10 tasks and going to bed with the ten started and not one done.

Great hub, nothing like hitting the pillow and drifting into sleep, a gift from God. Voted up, useful and interesting. Blessings, Sparklea :)
