The Whispers Would Call

Updated on February 18, 2015

The Whispers

The angel watching over her cries,

and all the light in the room

seemed to gather in her eyes,

the whispers were near,

as the silence lengthened,

and she just sat there,

her tears were gathering,

and her mouth twisting with pain,

the angel called her name,

but nothing felt the same,

no remorse, no shame,

the whispers would be the blame,

and it had nothing to explain,

the whispers would call

and she moved forward,

as if she might fall,

it would have been a fall

that the angel couldn’t handle,

then she appeared to be reaching

for a burning candle,

her finger touched it,

and the melting wax would stick,

she extinguished the tiny flame,

that was left on the wick,

she was in darkness,

and the angel felt sick,

the whispers brought in the fear,

and her windows blew open,

and she was no longer there.

I loved the unity of the composition and the easy flow. You have narrated the poetry very beautifully.

The beautiful work of Mr. Frank Atanacio. Something great in the poetic form to read and think and only wonder what's next?

      It's another beauty, my fellowman.

      Great poem.

For me, this was a very visceral work. I felt the torment of one wracked with anguish--extinguished like the candle--Such a great write!
