The Will of Bitterness

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Wherever life takes us, we cannot embrace bitterness,

it is our most debilitating and undermining rival.

Not only does it cloud truth but speaks of false reality,

blame the centre of a misguided perspective.

Bitterness is a not an inane regret,

but a malevolent messenger of vengeful intent.

It does not remain at rest but imparts action,

the motivator of believed balance.

Bitterness is born of perceived wrong,

a victim mentality that by its action develops contempt.

An incapability to forgive or abandon is the creator,

gathering ill-intent to create the blackness of doom.

It grows like a cancer within us affecting mind and body,

unleashing anger deep from within the well.

Bitterness assumes different forms and justifications,

but beneath its crust is the simplicity of hate.

Our choices are clear and our actions in question,

but to forgive is the imperative of release.

And in that we can move on unencumbered,

free to find love in our hearts, and bitterness to fade from being.
