The Woman In The Doorway (Part one)

Updated on March 20, 2010

Mrs.Tuddley

Mrs.Tuddley lived in a nice quite neighborhood in the country, she had raised her family of two.Giving in the community as time had allowed. Mrs.Tuddley Loved small collectible items like little woodknots, and as the Children grew up and moved on.She thought she would collect on a larger scale.Three years had passed from the time that the children left home to pursue their careers and lives.

Mrs. Tuddley called Her daughter Trisha and her son Joseph to come over for dinner one evening to discuss some of her plans.Has they sat eating dinner that evening she began to explain she says "Now that you both have been gone away from the house. This house is not the same.It seem to be quite lonely here. She went on in explaining "Both of you know that I have been collecting things from days gone by and even if they collect dust it will all still be here when I'm gone.I want to sell them piece by piece.Maybe no fortune but just something to do.So Trisha and Joseph agreed with their mother and told her to find herself a building.

The next day Mrs. Tuddley was so excited she started her day early on her way into town to look for a building. She drove around looking and sometimes walking and talking to people and inquiring about the building owners. Mrs.Tuddley went home with phone numbers and names. She was tired as she entered her home Mrs.Tuddley Kicked off her shoes grab a glass of tea and headed for her desk. She took a moment to gather her thoughts and picked up the phone. She made calls and left messages.

The next day she answered a call about a building. The owner said " Give him two days and he will come and open the building so she made an appointment with the gentleman.Oh she was so happy she went through her home for the next two days dusting and picking out her prize items for sale to put in her store;you see she had always wanted her very own store. She had always visioned it ,but never thought it would stem from things so close to her and the family.Well the days passed and that day finely came.It seem so long to wait for.

Mrs.Tuddley got her shower and coffee on the go.She drove into town to meet Mr.Knox.As she turned the corner to the address of the building she parked. The old building was an eye sore to others.Made of shiny old tin in a barn shape. She gets out of her car " Hello my name is Marie Tuddley, and you must be Mr.Knox? Yes I am."How are you today? replied Mr.Knox.
Mrs Tuddley stated" I'm fine,What a beautiful day it is?The weather was nice and cool Spring was on the horizon, but not only that it was a new chapter in her life a freshness went through her body.Mr Knox could see her glow.

He told her that the old building belong to his parents that are now residing in the comfort of a nursing home and he lost interest in the old feed barn after his parents both could no longer work are care for themselves.I had to paint it and give it some life so the city would not have me remove it.So I just replaced silver to the old tin,I'm sorry for the shape that it is in it need some repair, but will it work for what you want to do?Mrs.Tuddley was in her own world thinking on how to set her things in place not hearing a word Mr Knox was rambling on about. She said "I'll take it, When can I move in?" Mr Knox replied"When ever you are ready".As they walk through the old building of dust and creaky wood floors. The old building had two double doors at the front entrance and the old cash register sat in front of one.One large door on the side in the back with a loading dock. She and Mr.Knox agreed on the rent and he gave her the keys and shook hands.

Mrs.Tuddley went home and called her son and daughter to tell them of her great news. And ask for their help in setting up the store on the weekend. They both "replied yes we will see you on Saturday Mother."
