The World of Numbers

Updated on May 21, 2012
Source

mathematics is a passion
that is understood by few.
It holds a fascination
that entrances me, its true.
I love the world of numbers
they're like keys to golden locks
when they are inserted
open wide their magic box.
i think of them as puzzles
that cry out for me to solve...
hold within their language...
clues that make this world revolve.
geometry and algebra
are games I love to play...
once i learn the rules they then
become logical array.
You may think me weird,
and perhaps, in this, it's true...
but mathematics is a passion
and it entrances me X2.

Many thanks! This was a fun write! I figured people who love numbers like I do would relate, and people who hate math would laugh at a little weirdo who loves numbers! A win-win proposition all the way around! lol...

da, in moments of extreme boredome, I have whipped out the trusty calculator and played!

PA I would be delighted for you to share this poem with your nephew!

Gus, you remind me of me and ice skating! I just love to watch iceskaters whirl so gracefully on the ice, but I couldnt skate if my life depended on it...lol too clumsy for that!

tnderhrt23 - I thought that I would never see... a good poem about mathematicry. Loved the poem. Hate the number stuff. Nice one no matter my inability to add 2 and 2.

Well as you can guess, Math was my personal hell at school. Now I am older I marvel at the fact there is nothing in nature, including sound itself that is not made up by mathematical equations. The Golden Number, the Golden Mean. However this is a fantastic poem. It really made me smile. I shall have to share this one with my 9 Year old Nephew who absolutely loves maths.

tnderhrt23--I love this--and the picture. I so envy your finesse at rhyme--you are the expert, seriously. I love the phrase like keys to golden locks and the ending just makes the entire thing ADD UP to perfect in my math book! Makes me want to go get my calculator our and play with it awhile. DA
