The Writer- Poem by Rebecca Wood

Updated on January 23, 2012

I wrote this poem a few years after I had started writing. I wondered if people who didn't write ever knew how moving it really is. In fact, depending on what one writes about could cause a serious state of depression. I believe the writers described in this poem are the true writers of any age. Hope you like it.

Writing is an easy way of getting away

When you can say the things you want to say

Who you've created is who you'd like to be

The world you've created has everything you wish to see

Your imagination runs so far

Every imagined tragedy will leave a scar

Every heroic gust of wind you can feel against your skin

Every story you write is like living over again

After writng for so long

You can lose your sense of right from wrong

You forget the difference between truth and lies

You may act different but you'll be the same until you die

Thank you, Aliswell. I'm glad you found comfort in what you like to write about from my poem. I hope you find more in yourself from your writing. Thanks for reading.

Becca, This poem gives me solice this particular point in time. I am trying to determine the reason I should write in this age of overwhelming Blogosphere and internet information. I guess what I take from your poem is that which we write is indeed that which we are, that which we wish to be, and ultimately that which we will be remembered for.

Yes indeed, that's my favorite part of writing.

      You said it.

And my favorite part is you can be whomever you want to be and do whatever your heart desires.

      Voted up.
