The man inside the room
The beast outside my window
taunts me as he passes
the shadows creep along the wall
as the darkness swells and masses
Where have I seen him?
How do I know him?
Open your eyes child
the fate you seek is here
hold the knife in sweaty palms
if the stranger gets to near
Can you hear him?
Do you fear him?
Follow whispers side to side
No ones there inside your room
You can not find the source inside
creatures fall as daylight looms
Is he here?
was he here?
Let the fears that you believe
guide you through night
let the fear that he should see
be shown through stranger lights
He was here.
He is here.
As you struggle, rest to move
inside your body follow
Shake yourself awake and you
must not let your life be swallowed
You have scared him.
You have dared him.
Who is this man that scares you stiff
makes your body quake yet drift
to the mind that must resist
he is the shattered mist
You control where demons go.
You control where spirits flow.
He is the one you call the soul
The spirit that can take control
He is your mind and makes you fold
He does exactly what he's told.
You are him.
He is you.
There is a part of your mind that holds you. It keeps you down, and will not let you up. For me it is a force that holds me when i wake at night. I can not move, I can not struggle. This is what this poem is about. The force that holds us safely yet scares us senseless, with an uneven, and tempered power. Hold on as you dream, If you wake and find yourself unable to move, remember, you are holding yourself down. Stay calm it will pass in a few minutes. Welcome to the world of Sleep Paralysis.
