I love reading. I want to share with you short reviews of the Christian books I have read in 2020. I encourage you to read them too. ❤️

Introduction

Have you been wandering about in life for months and/or years wondering what is the will of God for your life? You might be told by friends and family what you should be. You might be stressed by what people expect of you. Well, you can't please everyone and at the end of your life on earth, your purpose is what will stand out and what you did down here will determine your place or position in eternity.

I read for the first time "The purpose driven life" by Rick Warren this year for forty days. Starting immediately with when I was recommended to read it on March 11, 2020 and completed reading it in April 19, 2020 (A forty day read). I'm grateful to the one who told me to read it. The book helped me to be sure of what should be my priority in life and to focus on worship as a way of life. What I learned helped me not to waste my time anymore trying to do what everyone thinks I should do or be, but instead go to the word of God in prayer and find out why I'm here on earth in the first place.

The purpose driven life

The author makes reading his book easier by first telling the readers that the forty chapters are to be read for forty days. It really reminded me when I was a new believer more than two years ago where I downloaded plenty of Christian books, read all of them but it's like I never read at all. I had read around first five pages for each book and never got to finish. And the book I finished was only because I skimmed right through the entire book and only payed attention to some eye catching subheading. I am glad to submit to you my testimony that, that cycle is broken off from me. I now read an entire book word by word before I go to the next.

Back to the review, in his book, "The purpose driven life", Rick Warren helps the reader establish a firm foundation on the 'why' you are on this earth and for 'what' purpose you are here. It's all for God's glory! This book will help you start wherever you are and with whatever you have. You will be able to once and for all chose the direction of God's voice and not be caught in between pleasing a human being and pleasing God. Isn't it great to discover that God can and will use your life experiences, abilities, Spiritual gifts, personality and heart to touch more lives and even advance His kingdom?

Just think about it, we live in a world where people hide behind status, accomplishments and titles and we never get to know the real them. In a world where being vulnerable, humble and open is shunned and being proud and acting like you got all things right or know everything is welcomed. Don't you get tired of wearing a mask all the time?

Well, I recommend this book. Then after you read it, prayerfully read the Bible and seek God's face and slowly you will start seeing your reflection in His Word. The truth of who you are in God and who you are called to be. You will begin to unmask what the world has forced you to hide and let God's light shine from within you instead of trying to hide it.

You are a worshiper and you better turn all your worship back to your creator. If you aren't glorifying God, there is always something else you are giving all your attention to because you are a Spiritual being and your heart's desire is to worship. This book, with simple English helps you to know the basics and be able to grow and mature in Christ as you apply what you learned.

Conclusion

I would have gone into details and say more of the benefits of reading it but I don't want to spoil the sweetness of discovering your purpose yourself. Aren't you curious like I was? Well, this is the best place to start. No need to worry if you don't have a mentor as a new believer, even authors can mentor you through their books. Shalom!
