The Hourglass

Updated on July 13, 2011

The Hourglass

Very much alive yet not living

Restless, my soul drifts

Lost in a sea of familiar

Yet so foreign faces

Of not so long ago

Forlorn, I cling to the hourglass

As the grains of sand trickle down

Lost, never to be taken back again

The precious seconds of those moments

Lost, but not forgotten

Solace, I find, on a contingent path

With an indecisive endeavor

To finally obtain a purpose in life

For my soul to live once more

Life is not a dress rehearsal..... so glad you are going for it with your writing. The words of your poetry are lyrical and timeless.

Beautifully written, soulful, our life is a one way ticket, what has gone before us can not be re-traced.

Beautifully put. Our life's hourglass is one way. We can't turn it over to begin again.
