Daydreaming

Like feet that swiftly scurry through my mind,

Those days when I was young come back to me,

And leaving what I think of now, I find

Myself entranced with things that once did be.

Far out upon this sea of cloudy form

I sail in dream-like wonder on a ship

That knows the way through calm and even storm,

And thus from land of real do take my trip.

Ah years that were so full of colors then!

How in this cloudy land I see them all

And live them all, as if they were again,

And then must leave to sail back through this wall.

The Complete Poem

Chart well these years that pass so swiftly now,

That future days guide well your mem’ries bow.

This is a beautiful poem that stirred memories that got lost along the way. Paintings by Maxfield Parrish fit in perfectly with this rendition.....

      Damian,

I think I did include it in that collection of my works. Good memory, my brother. Shows your youthful mind is sharp as ever.

Mindful. I could be wrong but was this a poem from the book of poems that you wrote 1997 - 1998? It was a great book. I remember "The Mountain".

      John,

Thank you for reading this one. It is hard to believe that I wrote that one over forty years ago. Ah, the memories!
