My Truth About Anger

Updated on March 3, 2011
Source

anger does not teach a child
the things he needs to know...
anger breeds unto itself...
in contagion that will grow...
anger spawns within a soul
the seeds of burning rage...
seeds that sprout within a trap
that imprisons, thus, with age.
listen all, with ears to hear,
the words I say are true...
it is the voice of experience
that shares her truth with you.

This poem is very timely. Right now I am dealing with the observance of a neighbor- someone who is expressing her anger and I feel concerned for her child who hears it. It is a blessing to hear someone state the truth about it. Thank you.

Thanks, CM...Anger constantly directed at a child is most damaging...

Nicely, done. I agree. Directing anger or even continued impatience at a child will produce a child that feels they were never good enough for mom and dad.

A child who sees anger and ridicule, usually, will follow in the same pattern. Thank God, this is not always true. I'm thinking about a child who is born homosexual, the ridicule is unbearable for some, while others are able to survive and be happy. This is a beautiful and heartfelt poem. Thank you.

What a very poignant poem. It rings of truth for me, I grew up with abuse and thus Anger followed me into my adult life, I've had to deal with it and keep it from careful watch. It's been very difficult I must confess, however I manage it now, it no longer manages me. Beautiful scribe. Thank you.

This is so true, and I too understand it. Perhaps some of the best advise one can give or take. I think we all need to manage our anger better at times, that's for sure. Great hubpage, voted you up here.
