The Bird (poem)

Updated on December 17, 2015

It was the morning of another spring

When all the world rejoiced to greet the day

A bird flew to her window where he’d sing

And when his song had ended fly away

-

And with each day the sun would find him there

To heighten all her dreams with serenade

Assurances of magic in the air

And realms for carefree lovers are still made

-

Then came an evening filled with storm and clouds

There in her darkness came the sound of rain

The promised glow now hidden deep in shrouds

She prayed for gentle sleep to ease the pain

-

The sweetness of the morning brought the bird

A sadness in his song which went unheard

Very sad ending, Martin. However, I love that the bird sang to her each morning before darkness settled in.
