The Bitter Fruit (poem)

Updated on August 30, 2014

There in the darkness of his nights she cried

Such sadness seems to permeate the air

Each heartbeat a reminder she is there

His soul seeks some escape but is denied

-

Her tears now seem to flow from everywhere

Their shadows leave him no safe place to hide

His dreams of bright tomorrows have all died

His hopes devoid of sorrows are all bare

-

He doesn’t know just why she went away

Or felt the pain of being so alone

-

Was this the gift he gave to her each day

Was this the gift only she would own

-

Such bitterness now echoes her dismay

There in his darkness reaping what was sown

Hey Mhatter, sometimes, the bitter fruit is better for you than the sweet. I like it man. Your stuff is down. Keep it up?
