The Bridge (poem)

Updated on April 2, 2014

There on a bridge

Over a river

Bound for eternity

-

I paused to look at a reflection

Is that really me on the wave

With the sun of the day behind me

-

How different I appear

In the mirror of nature

Reflecting back the truth of it

-

As if I didn’t see

As if I didn’t feel

As if I didn’t know

-

All the things behind me in some past

All that waited for me up ahead

All which now stares down at a reflection

-

Feelings for the ones I love

Feelings for the world I live in

Feelings that I carry deep inside

-

Asking me if I know

Yet you’re right

I don’t

-

How different I appear

As I’m held within this moment

Crossing to another side

-

Then the reflection was gone

For there I too had gone

And only the bridge knew the truth of it

Well, Martin, I'm looking down at the water and I see a reflection of me writing...and that's what I need to do right now. Excellent reflections in your reflection. :)
