The Dream Of A Kiss (poem)

Updated on January 1, 2016

And there he waits beneath their tree

And from his lips a melody

Of kisses hoped to draw their way

And there to spend eternity

-

He knows that she’s not far away

She passes by most everyday

It’s her his heart is beating for

It’s her that reason goes astray

-

As time draws closer spirits soar

As lovers’ dreams have done before

Who hear the voice of paradise

And understand what life is for

-

For this all else will not suffice

For this all else he’ll sacrifice

For this alone is why he’s here

For this he too will pay the price

-

For there he was as she drew near

He thought he saw his vision clear

And tears were streaming at the sight

What once was hope would disappear

-

It’s not so clear what brought the blight

Confusion reigns when things aren’t right

And time has claimed its tragedy

Another kiss he’ll dream tonight

Music only

      Sweet, yet a little sad.

Perhaps the dream may be as pleasant in a dream--until the real thing!t
