The Fog (tanka)

Updated on August 14, 2013

So strange was the fog

Which had settled in his streets

That cold summer’s day

That when it finally left

He found himself all alone

That could be a disturbing experience. Kind of like feeling lost. Interesting tanka, Martin. It makes you think.

Sounds like an out of body experience.

Or, were they really strange visitors?

Was it the milk man or the paper boy making their early morning deliveries?

      OK, I'm lost, here.

But, it is spooky as hell!

The tone of the poem, along with the photo, is haunting and beautiful.

Very interesting, Mhatter99. I often walk around in a fog, when I don't get much sleep. This kind of reminded me of it. : ) Voted it up!

The photo is telling. Loneliness is sad indeed...

This is eerie - fog on a cold summer's day and the pic adds so much to the words - it is unsettling.

Nice! You've built tension and an eerie sense with a strange fog on a cold summer's day. It's an oddity that leaves the reader wondering. The art goes with it perfectly as well. Well done!

The fog can really leave our minds in a fog, too. Interesting poem.

Spend half my day in fog. It's called living in the San Francisco Bay area. A perfect summers day is when the sun comes out by noon and doesn't come back until after you go to bed.
