The Last Dance (Poem)

Updated on February 8, 2016

Again we venture out into the night

To dance and hold all others to our view

Our kiss and moves to others such delight

There in our world is only me and you

A dream we made a theme without an end

Aflame with glitter lightened and so bold

And in this dream we made we could depend

Who knew that in a while we would grow old

Now here we’re harshly stricken by life’s thrust

Eternity so jealous placed its wall

Arise and proudly stand for you I must

Awaiting for the final dance to call

Be patient love we soon will dance again

Into the night we’ll venture to the end

The thought of dancing again keeps us going. My grandmother liked to talk about "the blessed hope."

This is beautiful. It perfectly describes how I feel when I dance with my husband... as if we are the only ones in the room.

Beautifully expressed, especially to us who are in our twilight years and feeling our mortality.
