The New Day (poem)

Updated on March 19, 2016

There’s something a bit different today

Our lark has learned to croon a lover’s tune

Lingering scent a flower makes me swoon

From here the world seems very far away

Oh sunshine meant for me my lasting boon

You are the light whose welcome forms my day

An echo cast in moonlight while we play

A lifetime of delight around us strewn

Feel free to check my soundness if you dare

Am I distracted by a lover’s view

Peer in my eyes is clarity lost there

Is it your touch my heart still races to

This prelude to so much ahead to share

Each day begins anew for I love you
