The Note (poem)

Updated on June 22, 2013

Silently weep

This moment keep

Close to your heart

This time apart

What did it mean

This note in a dream

Which etches my longing

And toys with my soul

Silently weep

This moment keep

Close to your heart

This time apart

Haunting refrain

What visions you cast

On this empty canvas

Of another day

Silently weep

And yet again

Searching for something

Shadow of an ember

Lost in seasons’ snow

Clawing at me

This moment keep

Gnawing all once was

Close to your heart

Drawing what lay hidden

This time apart

Thawing lost feelings

Then there was peace

As I found meaning

To the note which they found

On my fateful bed

Silently weep

This moment keep

Close to your heart

This time apart

Oh dear. A suicide note perchance? Whatever the note may be the poem is beautifully done with melancholy and sadness. As with so many of your poems it would appear we can interpret it in many ways.

      Voted up, awesome, and interesting.

The refrain adds to the sadness. Nicely done.

Awesome work. Up and shared. Great use of rhyme and tremendous rhythm throughout. Very well done.

Very touching thoughts about missing someone. It is a feeling many of us have experienced. Written well and with great imagery.

Oh, how sad! I'm not sure if the lead character died or has been forsaken by love. Either way, this is very touching.
