The Note (poem)

Updated on March 26, 2016

I got your note and this is my reply

I truly never thought we’d come to this

To leave it to mere words to say goodbye

Mere words when needed often we’d dismiss

-

Where were these words when tears began to fall

Or in those times when silence ruled the day

I can’t recall the need for words at all

As something far more grander slipped away

-

How fitting it’s all ending with a note

When words on paper ushered in our start

What dreams were shared amidst those words we wrote

When did it end when did it fall apart

-

And then this note which says that we are through

A note that sadly ended I love you

Music only

Touching sadness....today it would be the text message.

Martin, this is sad, but beautiful at the same time. It's not uncommon to learn of failed love through a letter or note. Sometimes it's too difficult to come face to face with the love whose heart is being broken.
