The Price of Grand Love (poem)
Excuse me if my answer would be no
To live this dream of happiness once more
Entwined with you yet so much left to know
About the passions hidden at that shore
-
So easy it would be this jest of yes
As if a second part would scarce dilute
A tale of love in its own time to bless
The hearts of lovers held so resolute
-
And let’s not be so callous to cast off
The price in pain for all that we went through
The wrinkles on our faces fain to scoff
At eyes who paid a share in seas of dew
-
We lived a life that others dare dream of
And we must pay the price for one such love
