The Teardrop

Updated on September 16, 2017

A teardrop someone wept alone that night

Was doomed to fade away into the sun

Another day of life had just begun

And tears were things which people hide from sight

Two lovers chanced to happen to the scene

A youthful pair who stopped awhile to kiss

But in the air was something gone amiss

A whisper shared a wayward wind did glean

She sadly stood and watched him disappear

A heartbeat joined the whisper of goodbye

So strange it was she didn’t even cry

Except one droplet of a precious tear

Was fate or stars or wonderment unknown

The lonely tear and precious gem then met

And together Joyous rainbows set

For they no longer had to fade alone

...for they no longer had to fade alone. I love the hope in this poem, Martin. Well done!
