The Test (poem)

Updated on December 7, 2014

Oh life and love and hope in worldly whim

Why was it me you chose to meet your test

A simple soul with dreams like all the rest

For I love her but sadly she loves him

-

To just move on a path perhaps was best

Perhaps the pain and heartaches I could trim

When all delight ahead from here seemed dim

There must be other loves another quest

-

But tides in dreams that rocked this simple soul

What kind of love could ease just sweep away

Was this the trust which futures would speak of

-

So with this truth my mind must now console

To pass life’s test and meaning to convey

There was a man who bore so great a love

Oh - this has to be one of my favorites from you. So often we find ourselves asking why we are required to pass a heart breaking life test that we never wanted to take in the first place.

      Very sad one here Mh!

Just better make sure he knows without a doubt that really is the case, being that his is "No Ordinary Love." Just saying . . .

Don't you just love how I always take things literally? Must be due to the fact that I am 98% a non-fiction writer, so it is hard for me to take things written as fiction or something just made up?

      Voted Way up

God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper

There will always be the one that got away. Sad, but somethings just aren't meant to be, the ordinary love becomes no ordinary love, the one we spend our lives trying to recapture. A beautiful poem complemented by beautiful soulful music. Very touching.

I am always out of words when it comes to your poems and for me to be out of words....that's BIG! Thank you for another great one and I definitely recommend the Pandora method. It hasn't happened for me yet but I know, just one more song and that should be it! Up and awesome!

I'm sure you know there's always something bigger and better coming your way...and, so what's the best thing to do is simply to move on. Some things are just not meant to be.

Nice poem, vividly penned along with that soothing accompaniment by Sade.
