Their Journey (poem)

Updated on October 1, 2012

The couple began their journey at sea

With love and promise they ventured ahead

To create for themselves a memory

Mid all of the richness heaven may shed

-

With time and some morning they opened eyes

When oceans of doubt loosed waves of distress

While shadows in fog were whispering lies

Was this the promise they sought to caress

-

How could love back when be this sweet despair

To abandon hope might correct their flaw

But in the murky waters floating there

Drew tears of truth at something that they saw

-

What was it in the waters of their blight

To meet unknown tomorrows holding tight

This is wonderful. Just as long as we take these journeys together.

I appreciate the recurring theme of reconciliation in your poems. Couples can use your poems as a form of therapy. Beautiful and up.

You know I'm not poet so my comments seem rather bland but oh how I love the mytery of this one. The lack of an ending allows the reader to linger...

I like how you leave this open ended...we can think about our own personal blights or those that affect the world at large.

What can I add dear Mh, that would add anything to the previous awesome comment left, but simply ----- exquisite and beautiful writing here. Yes, "to meet unknown tomorrows holding tight." God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper

I was drawn to the many stories of escaping immigrants who sought a new life risking it all on the sea in an attempt to reach a new world of hope. Yes, they must have seen the reflection of their own happy hearts in the moonlight waters, as they paddled toward the sun's last setting.
