Them And Us

Updated on March 19, 2012

Honoring beliefs by their practice in our lives.

Seek out truth where truth is to be found.

Fragmented in our beliefs....

"Them" and "Us"...can we always be "We"?

I like them.

I’m not sure they like us.

I like the humility showing in their form of prayer.

I’m not sure they like the way we take it for granted and often go without it.

I like their modesty.

I’m not sure they have any respect for our flaunting of the human body.

I like their respect for what they consider to be God’s words.

I’m not sure they find our dusty Bibles speak well of some of our faiths.

I like their approach to physical health and cleanliness.

I’m not sure they want to shake our hands.

I like their unity divided by two.

I’m not sure they respect our rampant individualism.

I appreciate that God loves them.

I’m not sure they think He could ever love us as we are.

I like the good examples they sometimes set.

I’m not sure they think we have much to offer.

Jandee: She asked that I remove them, so I have complied. I believe that she may have felt the piece was being critical or perceiving criticism, either way (if true) she did not want to be participating with added comments. At least that is how I interpreted the request.

jandee: Welcome Follower, nice to know you are there, reading and commenting. Many of mine are "pithy" as one commenter described them. Easy reading, but I hope they keep you thinking for a while.

cynthtggt: Your search for and discovery of meaning is not without precedent. ;o) When you reach the point where life is a joyous challenge and you wish that everyone could feel the way you feel and you want so desperately to share that feeling, you have your own "evidence." Thanks for the Follow. If you "lose" me again, just put me into the HubPages "Search" box. I'm always there.

Nice poem. :) Although the message may not have been intended, it does speak volumes about how we have no reason be disrespectful or rude toward others' beliefs simply because they may feel that way toward ours. Despite differences in views, beliefs, and traditions, we all have something that can be learned from and admired. Thanks for sharing. :)
