And Then There Was One...
I trusted them
With my head, heart, and soul.
I told them secrets,
They promised never to tell another soul.
They lied to me,
They left me,
Excuses is all I heard,
I was to be deterred.
How could people so close, be so cruel?
I thought I mattered,
I didn’t know I was being made a fool.
I didn’t know I was being used like a tool.
They all fell at the last hurdle,
I don’t need them in my life now, nor ever.
I am stronger, I can see more clearly,
I now have up my shield, my guard, my cover.
Once, you were there for me
Neither fiend nor foe.
Then you were gone,
And once again I was very low.
Then I met some new people,
They are totally different from you.
Why might you ask?
They don’t judge me, they contact me, and they even want to meet up with me too!
Friendship and loyalty;
Something I adore, but have lost so many times.
I was brought to my knees crying,
I hope all of you failures heard my unhappy chimes.
