There is no right...just change

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Tethered to my own expectations,

I can but see the limits of my perspective,

perpetrating the course of my fears,

and the conclusions of my nightmares.

I cling to them with fervent panic,

governed by a future that I alone create,

yet fall to my worst concerns,

giving no credence to possibility.

I am the limit of my future, nothing more,

by not accepting that which I cannot change,

and if I can become all I can be, regardless,

I will inadvertently open closed doors.

Life is filled with irony, and I filled with most,

lay waste to my so-called intellect,

and accept my vision is so often coloured,

by the hues of a jagged past.

I am but a child passed its age,

needing to learn from its ineptitude,

its habits trite and restrictive,

eyes blinded by a truth divorced.

With fear and apprehension I open my eyes,

sure to see more than I have been willing,

yet within the arms of love,

I am guided to be more than me.
