There Was A Day (poem)

Updated on February 1, 2015

I fell through a hole

I couldn’t explain

Didn’t try

Why should I

No reply

A part of my soul

Now drifting with pain

Sadly sigh

say goodbye

Wonder why

But there was a day

A beautiful play

So much to convey

Our hearts showed the way

What madness did stroll

Down path of insane

Don’t deny

That a lie

Made her cry

So bitter a toll

I now must maintain

Once blue sky

Soon must die

Stupid guy

But there was a day

When we’d dream away

In smiles would we stray

And problems defray

But I fell through hole

And darkness attain

Didn’t try

Trusted lie

To get by

What now will console

Some peace to regain

To apply

And rely

What’s nearby

Yes there was a day

When in love we’d stay

Please come back I pray

What else can I say

Too little, too late...sometimes we realize our mistakes after what we treasure slips away.

Your way with words is always captivating to me.

Sending you Angels all the way to your home :) ps

Martin, I adore the soulful tone in this, and the subject bears fault.

Sometimes lies create damage that cannot be forgotten, let alone forgiven. We must always think before we speak or act.

My favorite line, "So bitter a toll..." I like the way you put this together. It totally evokes regret and sadness. Thumbs up.

The video adds so much to this piece. Sometimes we just never know why. Beautiful....

Mhatter99...we never know what lies ahead...until it's that day and we start to dread...

and then it's to late to reciprocate..all is lost..and so have we....dread the day, we hope we never see..discontent.. time to precious and no time to lament.

Such a sad place to be---stuck somewhere between the hurt and the pain.

We feed the hungry wolf with our discontent. So often, there is no other place to be.

      Good job, Martin.

Such power in your words - such connection - always one who has to hurt.

Oh, how very sad when we do not really mean to hurt another, and then down we go into that deep dark hole. Perfect song and video too. It is very painful no doubt.

      Voted up ++++ and sharing

God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper
