They Held Their Ground - A Poem

Updated on November 22, 2014

They held their ground,

Five waves and now the night,

But despite their fear, despite the darkness,

They held their ground.

They held the line,

Warriors and their brothers beside them,

And even if they don’t see the sun again,

They will hold the line.

They will not retreat,

Here they will make the final stand,

Once you start you cannot stop,

So they will not retreat.

They will stay the storm,

That’s coming to their homeland,

It will not touch their soil,

They will stay the storm.

They will survive the night,

If not all, at least a few,

Someone will still be there,

They will survive the night.

They will push forward,

The fight will be pressing onward,

Enough of them still live to fight,

They will push forward.
