Things of Beauty

Updated on February 15, 2017

A thing of beauty is a joy forever, the least recognised, goals to endeavour,

As seasons come and all seasons go, reasoning soon explained, to savour.

Each creature here on this fine earth, given a chance to begin from its birth.

One's stature, of its being, not decided by fate, as in reflecting its own worth.

The grandest creator has so made us all, the greatest creatures to the small,

His schedule was not revealed in its scope, or in its time, of an interval to call.

Perhaps infinitesimal all were to begin, the species evolving, to a present day,

One million years as to be in our own time, this score was only for him to say.

Humanity was so endowed, with a mind and a purpose, for this earth all to save,

This charge was of His utmost intention, the very one condition, to us He gave.

The haste of such waste, defiling, of greed, now so discourages us to succeed,

Our time is short, the days left are now few, for such a challenge, ours to plead.

The things of beauty are meant to be forever a delight, all as precious in His sight,

No smallest being or the tiniest of life declared as inferior, in our world, so bright.

The cycle of the living depends on all giving, not taking away, forsaking our tasks,

All Shout from mountain tops, so loudly voice our cause, evil intentions to unmask.

Whonu, you just keep on sounding out the message. There's a whole lot about life that we can control. You'd think we'd have learned that by seeing the destruction we humans have caused. If we can destroy, we can rebuild and nurture. Not everything is in God's hands or his fault. He gave us minds, common sense (well, most of us anyway!) and a sense of right and wrong. We need to pull up those boot straps and make Him proud!

Beautiful message on beautiful poetry. Without concepts like inferiority, we can see lots more beauty.

Your poetry, images and poetic thoughts are certainly things of beauty.
