With perfect grace and a beautiful smile,
my baby is turning thirteen.
Her life lies ahead, her childhood lies behind
who knows what the years will bring.
If I could wave a magic wand
She would have happiness, love and peace.
But life is not always smooth and serene
And her choices must be her own.
From breastfeeding baby to toddler to tween
She's brought love and laughter to my world.
I hope she knows how special she is,
loved and precious, a gift beyond hope.
When she is my age and I am ancient
I know she will understand
the laughter, the tears, the hugs, the fears
as a mother with a child of her own.
Too soon to think so many years ahead
we have the teen years to look forward to
I know ther'll be drama, heartbreak and strife
mixed with happiness, and good memories for life.
"Turn around and she's one, turn around and she's four,
turn around and she's a young girl going out of my door"
