This Changes, but That Stands

Updated on June 22, 2015

The flowering trees that bloom beyond the snow

And ice are now displaying life 'round us.

Yet it will soon be gone--we'll only know

The heat of summer, lawns turned brown, with just

A memory of snow and ice, and they

Who walk in daylight will know sun and heat,

And they who walk in darkness, heat as may

Be still above the ground. My fears still greet

Me everyday. I ever need that text

Of scripture comforting, that psalm book place

Consoling, strengthening, the place that's next

In Bible reading, teaching me the case

For faith in Christ; the Word of God is known,

Believed in winter, summer by God's own.
