This Child

Updated on November 3, 2011

Alone with shame, pain and fright

This child who cries mostly at night

And no one else knew what was behind her glory eye

Beaten by sticks, wires, and shoes

Hidden scars and bruise

Underneath her clothe

She fakes her smile

Her pretense so real

But behind her smile was a scar too deep to heal

For many years she yearn for love

She waits and waits

Yet she was not loved

Her broken heart like shattered glass

Buried deep inside alive

Her awful cries was unheard

Her tears like rain

Fall upon her precious cheek

And no one near to wipe her tears

Broken life was so much pain

She wished to end her life

Yet she was too afraid

In a dark room

She hums alone

Looking at stars through her window

Making many wishes and even prayer

Most of them are for her family

And less of them for her

Little by little like a story line

Memories creeps in

Before her eyes

She sees her mother dragging her and hit her with hand and fist

Her father whips her with telephone wires, pulling her hair and she beg him to stop

And all the blame she never done and all the cursed she wish to not heard

She could see her tears falling like rain

She could feel the pain

Over again

She can hear her own voice cry

Begging her parent to stop

Yet it didn’t stop, it made it worse

The echo of her cries

Has followed her

And all the pain she been through currently haunt her

I am so sorry you went through all of that pain chanroth. I can relate to the hurt that we bury from our pasts. It will always be with us but it is up to us how we live each day.

As children we had no control over these things that happened to us and we can't change our pasts but we can live in the present and smile towards our futures. The future is bright for you. :)

Chanroth-This poem was very painful and difficult to read but so important too. Child abuse is one of the saddest things to me. Hope you have found some healing from past pain. You have a lovely writing style in your poetry :-)

How would you know this chanroth? Child abuse is one cause nearest my heart. If I had a magie wand, I'd wave it over all the unfortunate children. They suffer.

      Well written and sad
