This Poet's Tale

Updated on March 20, 2011

I just don't get it,
it's mystifying to me...
the rhyme or reason
of Hub score decree...

The more I write,
the numbers drop...
Do I need to cease,
the dive to stop?

I post a piece,
get great reviews...
but those scores just shrink
without any clues...

I just don't get it!
Oh, explain it to me...
the rhyme or reason
the Hub scores decree...

But they're just numbers...
in invisible ink...
and write, I must...
or my ship will sink!

So I must ignore
those digits' tale,
and carry on
my poetic sail.

Ship's Ahoy,

Mate!

Paul, I don't understand the scoring system here. When they won't allow me to post something, they usually say it is too short...I add photos, usually two will do it, and they allow the hub to go up. I'm not sure how that works either, just wing it, and it usually flies. Don't give up, though...never give up! Thanks and Hugs!

Tndr- They have scores? Just kidding!! I will be honest, I look at my overall score some, but it perplexes me to watch the individual poem scores. Course, I have had like 5 or 6 poems it wouldn't even let me post lol So I have been contemplating doing an "all in one" hub titled, Shit Of Mine, Hubs Failed To See As Divine. Think they would let it thru? lol -Paul

samiaalie, thank you, I write for the heart, not the numbers but it does get a bit dicey when the "scores" drop. Its not about numbers so...so write I must! Hugs!

Good hub, ringing very true for me too. It's a strange thing. I thought about deleting my lowest scoring hubs to see if my hubber score would go up. But then I decided against that stupid idea because my lowest scoring hubs are still good, even if no-one reads them much. There were none that I could bear to delete.

I try not to care what my score is, but when it goes up I can't help being secretly a bit pleased!

Like the others have all said though, just write, write, write. The scores seem to just do whatever they like regardless.

      Linda.

....forget all of this BS about hub scores - the mighty epi-man don't give a hoot in heck about hub scores - he don't make no money neither - but what he does have is priceless and it's worth more than anything in the world - he has you - your friendship, your support, your absolutely terrific writing, and that beats everything - and as Johnny Rotten once sang at the end of a Sex Pistol's song - 'I MEAN IT MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!'

I find when I don't give a damn they go up and when I look at them they go down. The key, don't look and don't care and then write, write, write!

Spirit Whisperer, I will indeed read what vet has to say, and eagerly! Any time I acquire a new pattern or skill, I require lots of practice to perfect and be comfortable in it, and that is plain to see...and I rely on folks like you to guide me in that practice! Hugs to you, My Friend and Guide!

Boy, have we all wondered about this one. My theory: the numbers lag behind several days, and are based more on our hub activity, as opposed to scores and feedback on our own hubs. If I go on a commenting frenzy on other people's hubs, my scores usually go up three days later. Just a theory. Fun poem.

If you think this is bad you should read what vietnmanvet68 wrote http://hubpages.com/hub/Things-you-cant-say-on-HP-...

Thanks for the hub but my advice is never to allow anything negative to slip back in and to express negativity in your writing is only asking for trouble. Remember you get what you invite and you invite what you think so beware of where you point your mind. You must now go to the back of the class for breaking Spirit Whisperer Rules! Ha Ha
