Poem : This Cycle!

Updated on January 6, 2012

This Cycle!

It contains the air

We breathe

As it passes,

It swirls and prances

In dances with the

It sings its usual melody

The branches awakening

The leaves.

Each moment

disrupting the ones

That are still

In a mighty sleep

Giving the forest

animals and vultures

a time of great feast

the matured seeds

That has ripened

awaits their fate.

Some will quickly

Hitch that once

a year ride

With their transport

the howling wind

One that never waits.

Without knowing

those that slumber

Will dream

they were truly flying

by taking

the easy way

Going down.

While birds

With beautiful plumage

Flutter around.

The innocent

of that one

Sure thing

To which they

will all Partake,

readily keeping

their appointment

With mother earth

To face their own fate

as they hit the dirt

Signed in infinity

They had instinctively

gathered for

this reunion long since,

Set to take place

On the beautiful

forest floor

Some will await

sit hypnotized

In mindless awe.

a moments notice

Will somehow

know exactly what

they are waiting for.

They are waiting,

for this chance

Of a forever life

genetically promised

Those built in

they stab like knives.

But the ones

who willingly

Took off

With the breeze,

Like a birds

They will all soon

plunge to what

will eventuality

be getting down

on their Knees

Like a groom

at rehersal

Before his bride

Baby please

To partake in making

the same start,

Chasing the sun.

The seeds that got

Those that begun

they started out,

lazy and little late

have followed

On a hasty pace

Still embarking on

That same mission,

Suicidal of sorts,

Some gets raided

By animals

Those having food,

As their immediate,

their only thought,

those ripening fruits

filled with seeds

are prepped,

now preparing

for the survival

They bought.

Same yearly intervals,

Sometimes waiting

To make connection

With the dirt

already saturated

now being evicted

by its own tenants.

A new seed fallen

and somehow

settled between

The maze where

it carefully

But it viciously

Through those

twisted weeds

Which themselves

died competing

In that mad dash

To complete

the second faze.

This cycle

One well timed

Scramble for position

favorable space,

One that holds

the promise

Of survival

In such a

different place

In this forever

With mother earth

Where others

Without a trace

while partaking

in this race.

It takes years

between drinks

On these soils

only the fittest

Will survive, stay alive

To create

A link if not for

this year

ITherein lies

a hopeful chance

For the next,

Might even be

many others to come,

Quite luckily for them,

After a two hundred years

An old cedar

Takes the fall,

His death

Immediate life for all,

who stands ready

this once quiet forest,

Has now answered

such a welcoming call!

Soggy floors which

once lay dormant

Has now transformed

brimming with endless

signs of new life.

Seeds waiting on signals

Pleading with time

Have also come closer

In preparation.

So many of which

had already waited

for their time

Which came only

to again pass

But on this day

finally it found

itself sitting

At the very front

of the line.

This call to life

has now transformed

that which was

once dismal and dull

To now enjoy a

Lustful shine

While the old cedar

came crashing down

Completed his grind

That race which

started without

any sound

somehow has finally

announced that

it has officially begun

opening the door

to again start

this race to life

It’s now once again

Peeking through

At it’s highest heights

Those who are.

May live to be

among those to

welcome the sun

have a share

of the light

The feeding

has now begun

yet another year

Thank you phdast,I just had a smile. It's amazing to know that you can connect with others in different ways and one great way is just a thought.

thanks for your kind words ,and for such beautiful pictures

they are actually in line to be the best . Those images of "our sky" purely breathtaking.

Even if it takes that long for you to wow us with your beautiful poems I hope that you will find someway to squeeze in some of those lovely pics.

Have yourself a wonderful day day.

Skye - I love your poem The imagery is wonderful and the "cycle" has so many metaphorical meanings and layers. Just terrific. I am so glad my picTures could be an inspiration. :)

Now you must go back to Eschatology and look at the "sky" pictures again and see if one doesn't grab you and suggest another great poem. :)

      Creativity just abounds. How wonderful!

The pleasure is mines! Thank you Steele and I do mean that , because you have possibly seen exactly what I keep saying every time I reply to a comment on this hub.

I saw these beautiful pictures on a fellow hubbers page her name is phdast7, and immediately that "thing" grabbed hold of my eyes and mind and demanded that I comment, and compose something.

Now am saying that thing for the effect ,but I know what it is.

I am really happy that you like this poem and that make me curious , so you should know what curiosity did ! lol. well this cat won't die, he learned from the original cat.

Thanks for such a great comment and the reminder,of my father who loved Shakespeare so much I ended up playing the part of Antonio in the Merchant of Venice, during grammar school days.

Sky: nice to meet you here on the pages. I love the theme of your poem and have written on this topic many times myself- from the cradle to the grave, the never-ending circle and cycles of life, the rebirth that only death can bring. Shakespeare was hung up on this topic as well, so you are in good company, lol. You have some really nice stuff here, and I wish you much success. All the best-

Thanks"AE"it's quite amazing where and how thoughts come from , and this was no exception. There is an even sweeter poem in here , I could see it but can't put my mind on the words, but it will come . Thanks for reading and always a thoughtful comment "AE"

Thanks Frank , there are some projects that you know the sky is clearly the limit , but remembering many do's and don't's of exposing yourself , quite helpless out here, one is forced not to freely expose what he will consider his best. That's why I say to you, I have a plan, if you notice I won't ever finish a short story , because that will be like saying here I am take what you need . I know what I am made of and though the way of the land is trial and error , I believe only in the trial as with everything also , the error part has past in getting here. If you ever need my help in interpreting another human in any way , you have one free analysis here . You will be amazed. Sincerity can't be faked, or hidden.

Thanks for everything there is a proud time ahead, you are doing your part well, had I been getting paid your share would already be on the way. For man shall not live by bread alone.

Thank you very much Eddy , and I am happy you are first , some one always is, it 's your turn. Your comments are always appreciated .

There is this fellow hubber pdhast7 who wrote a very nice poem and the pictures that she posted simply blew me away , and immediately I envisioned the rain forest and the animals and the fish and the life cycle of trees and , it would not let me sleep , I changed it three times and still see areas where I can improve change and rearrange . But all is well , and I thank you always.

More housework probably ha ha !!!

I wouldn't be without it for the world now; and not have great hubs like this one to read in the morning. !!

      Perish the thought !

Take care and enjoy your day my friend.
