Those Internet Games

Updated on August 27, 2011

For hours and hours everyday

On the internet I see my friends play

A consuming passion it appears to be

Yet it doesn’t interest me

To build a farm, to storm a moat

To send off troops in a flimsy boat

There is a sense of achievement there

I am told if they sense perhaps a glare

As my words of conversation flow

All around them with ebb and flow

They do not hear anything I say

From a cup of tea?

To ‘It’s a nice day’

So focused are they on the task

Of being behind the computers mask

They live in a world of games and more

As dust it settles on the floor.

Yet not a criticism true

For each is doing what they choose to do

Thank you, I am an observer of people, and yes for many the online enviroment is an easier place to be.

Isn't it funny how for many the worlds created within online environments become as or more real than reality? This is a very interesting piece.
