Through the Night

Updated on July 13, 2011

Standing at the edge of the water

As the waves rush in.

Tears mingle with the raindrops

Too afraid to try again.

Hurts build on top of each other

Anger and fear blend

A wall protects the broken heart

Unwilling to break again.

Sinister shadows dance around

Nighttime quickly descends

Darkness hides the hopelessness

Too tired to try again.

As the night stretches on forever,

Despair threatens to win.

Can the flicker of hope that's left

Give strength to try again?

Awaking as daylight beckons

The sun will shine again.

A warm breeze subtly blows

Calling out to try again.
