Throwing a Rock

Updated on February 7, 2013

Throwing a Rock

Throwing a Rock

And as I crossed back from afar the field,

Having come from here to there and back to here again,

I dipped and picked and threw a rock

To let the place know I'd been there.

For you'd never know it for the air,

Although my spirit had lingered there

Well nigh unto an hour.

But an hour's stay's not enough

To dislocate the verdant stuff,

So we must come away by disarrange,

Or the place shall never feel the change.
