Tides

Updated on March 3, 2011

Life is a constant ebb and flow

Where the more I learn, the less I know.

The more I smile, the less I cry,

The more I live, the less I die.

The more I praise, the less I taunt.

The more I give, the less I want.

The deeper I love, the more poignant the pain.

The brighter the sunshine, the more refreshing the rain.

The more I forgive, the less I offend.

The more bridges I build, the less I must mend.

The more profound my hope, the deeper despair.

The darker the midnight, dawn is more fair.

The more wisdom I seek, the less foolish I grow.

The more gentle my spirit, the less anger I know.

The more grateful my heart, less self-pity will dwell.

The more tender my voice, the less loudly I yell.

The more I reach out, the less I'm alone.

The more I rejoice, the less I grumble and groan.

The more that I share, the less that I need...

The more generous I am, the less I know greed.

The more tolerant I am, the less that I judge...

The more that I skip, the less I must trudge.

The more piercing my sorrow, the sweeter my joys.

The steeper the mountain, greater victory enjoys.

The more kindness I sow, the more forgiveness I reap,

The less spiteful my words, the more peaceful my sleep.

The less that I yearn for, the more I receive,

The less that I question, the more I believe.

The more I seek peace, the less I know hate.

The more expedient the lessons, the less twists my fate.

The more I seek Light, the less darkness is near,

The more I trust God, the less I know fear.

Yes, the more that I learn, the less that I know.

The more I look back, the less distance I go.

The sweeter my words, the less bitter their taste.

The more talents I use, the less that I waste.

A journey of paradox, Life's a mystery at best...

Like the tide's ebb and flow, her wave's dip and crest.
