Time Out---For Love?

Updated on August 11, 2009

There is no better place to escape to when you need those moments to just make it all go---away.  People all around us are losing their jobs and have fallen to hard times.  Take a few moments and curl up on that old frayed couch or recliner and start reading a love story.

Some people prefer to only read non-fiction and that is their choice.  Yet, those same people have loved or have been loved sometime in their lives.  It is said that, "everyone loves a lover."

Ask yourself three things, (Do you believe in true love?)  (Do you believe in love at first sight)  (Do you believe in love lasting forever?)  History has proven to us that love stores are immortal.

Shakespeare brought us the most famous lovers---Romeo and Juliet!  Although this love story was depicted in tragedy, it in its own way was an everlasting love.

Shakespeare went on to dramatize the true love story of two historical characters, Antony and Cleopatra.  The fell in love at first sight.  The relationship of Antony and Cleopatra showed the great sacrifices that love can demand.

Antony and Cleopatra's powerful and historical love story has graced many a stage all over the world.  Great love demands great sacrifices.

Yes, we all want to love and to be loved, but in today's world these love stories are sometimes hard to put on the stage of our lives, with 42% of all marriages ending in divorce.

No! We all need that love that only two people can find together. So when these tough times confront some of us, just open that front cover of a good romance novel and just maybe you can escape for a short time and even learn a few things.

I am a great fan of historical romances and I know many of you are too. Also many of us not only read all genders and categories of romance but we write them or as many of you have mentioned that your are in the process of writing that first novel. History has taught us many things and one is---love is not dead.

I have met many very talented writers here on the hub-pages---men and women and many mention the fact that they are writing a novel or have written one. We are all following our dreams in one way or the other. Yes, dreams and goals do come true and until the do appear, just find that quiet corner and open that book to Chapter One and tomorrow will be a brighter day.

I like this, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Do you believe that genuine love is only achieved over time and with trial and error? I love my fiance now (of seven years) more than i ever could have imagined and it only gets stronger. Thanks for sharing and for your feedback too! amy

Feline, I think maybe our lives are a love story. When do we get to hear yours?

Yes, I will be back with "Indentured Love,"--just re-editing it now. Thanks for hanging in there.

Thanks G-Ma, there is no other power that compares with--the power of love, and the Letterman sang it with real meaning.

Nancy girl, you do have a novel here just bring it forward. You and I and many others were blessed by finding that first love for so many are still searching. I too was attracted to older men--why?

Yes the Lettermen had a quality tone that brought this music right up front.

Ginn, as always a wonderful article---I enjoy your writing and look forward to each new hub!

If a woman has had a baby then she knows love at first sight does exist---I experienced love at first sight as an adult just once in my life. The minute our eyes met, that was it! We dated for a couple of years and I don’t think our feet ever touched the ground.

He was, and still is, the love of my life--- my first love… Unfortunately, he had a much bigger problem with the age difference (he was several years older) than I did so it ended. We still talk once in awhile by phone and when we hear each other’s voices, the excitement is still there. I told him one time it was too bad he let us go and his response was, “Next lifetime that won’t happen.”

Love is A Many Splendored Thing has a line that say’s,” Your fingers touched my silent heart & taught it how to sing,” which sums up our past relationship beautifully. I was blessed to have found that first love; many people live their whole life and never do.WOW, maybe I have a novel in there somewhere too…:

Thanks for The Lettermen video; they are a favorite group of mine. I love their music and they sound even better than they did back when!
