Relativity of Time

Updated on August 3, 2017

Time, that most temporary of gauges,

Record of life's moments, their length.

Depends in part to how much one tries,

Depths of their own lasting strength.

Before our births, our days are all set,

to be outplayed, and so numbered.

While as much, half being in dreams,

This as we each have slumbered.

Time is relative only to the beholder,

Not ever looking over one's shoulder.

The moments, hours, days and years,

Chasing youth, as our life's ending nears.

What proof of time, where did it begin,

That of everything, where does it end?

The universe and all of its bright stars,

Which is older... Earth, Venus or Mars?

Must there be time as a way to surmise,

This life of ours, as we wear a disguise,

Flesh over bone, hiding what's inside us,

As we dash in disorder, always to rush?

Time, an imaginative enigma, of its mystery,

Part of the design, the meaning of history.

When all along, is no beginning or ending,

Only messages we hold inside, transcending.

Great thoughts on the mystery of time, which of course points towards the Creator of Time. Good work!

Love the last two lines. Who can gauge time? As you say, it depends on the individual and how we perceive it, past, present or future. You've conveyed all these ideas so well, whonu, and this one got me thinking. Life, the universe and everything......!
