Timeless Melody (poem)

The scene a bank a river and a tree

Onto this set two birds of love did meet

Their sighs began a timeless melody

Their hearts became the source of their retreat


They sang of sweetness flowers and their scent

And of the tears so different today

How could such Joy turn into a lament

How did they ever let her slip away


And there within their heart their mind their soul

They felt the meaning of the other’s song

Refrains of love the payment of its toll

Refrains of where these lovers now belong


So as one bird took flight to soar the sky

The other joined the river drifting by
