"Tiny Islands" by Eric Wayne Flynn

Updated on August 21, 2014

"Tiny Islands"

Torn out of a high chair

Thrown down in front of a tube

A tiny island, entire to itself

Some say that can't be true

What's "Donne" is done

Filling up with goo

Goo goo ga ga

The slightest grasp of language

A starter kit to the puzzle, the maze

The baby mouse in its tiny cage

The early stage

Where we learn what it is to love

How to do it

How it's done

How it's won

Who are the losers?

All of us

Any one of us is a victim

Maybe it's just me trying to live free

Wash all the bullshit away, what's left is you and me

With one more night

One last light

One last chance

One last dance

With the wind and the rain

With the sun and the moon

All of us as one sharing this big blue room

Testifying that we believe in each other

Sister to sister, brother to brother

Black, red, white, yellow; colors on a pile of dirt

A land where nothing is sold

So let it be

Create the legend and it let it be told

Through a screen of black and white fuzz

Green paper, fans, the flames of vanity

The desire to be special in someone else's eyes

Shut down the cameras, tune out the lies

The projections that make us question the value of who we are

Gassing up our rockets, selling us shooting stars

Soaring into the concave black bulb

Blip, YOU don't exist anymore

Great stuff Eric, that damn tv controlling so many lives. I see my own grandchildren plonked down in front of a tv or IPad from the time they wake letting it act as a virtual baby sitter.....crazy.
