These light-hearted and sometimes serious conversations

Over the phone and yet I experience strange sensations

And later analyzing the words for my interpretation

While keeping awake thrilled by the sweet anticipation.

Your presence is soothing in this world harsh and strange

How our worlds met, intersect followed by a pleasant change

Yet I feel the pangs of jealousy and lover’s ache so strange

I think love has turned me crazy, only if I could change!

Is it true that with deep love it all comes naturally

Rifts and fears due to this green-eyed monster called jealousy?

Is this why a one time lover turns into an enemy

And then we sulk and wonder why he is not in my destiny?

“Jealousy is a disease, love is a healthy condition. The immature mind often mistakes one for the other, or assumes that the greater the love, the greater the jealousy - in fact, they are almost incompatible; one emotion hardly leaves room for the other.”

— Robert A. Heinlein

Excellent flow to this....I pictured the old coffee shops of the 50s and the beatnicks reading their poetry to the sound of bongo drums in the background. :)

Thank you Eric! Jealousy exists in everyone but in excess, it becomes a monster who devours you and robs you of your peace of mind.

That green-eyed monster comes uninvited. The Robert A. Heinlein quote is very helpful.

Yeah Dora! Jealousy comes without invitation and ruins your peace of mind.

Loved the pic- the green eye- Jealousy is an emotion we must keep under control. We all feel it at one time or another and it robs your peace.

Yeah Dana! It's a pity how easily we get entrapped in negative emotions.

      Great poem, nicely expressed!

The green eyed monster is symbolic and you distinguish 'love' and 'jealousy' beautifully.

Love is too complete and wholesome a feeling to give jealousy a chance to enter.

      Thank you!

Thank you Chitrangada! People often associate jealousy with love forgetting that it's highly detrimental.

Yes, yes! Where there is jealously, love cannot exist. One most divorce jealously before marrying Love. Fantastic poem :)

First off, the picture is perfect for this poem. And you hit the nail right on the head with your line "Yet I feel the pangs of jealousy and lover’s ache so strange".

The quote beneath says just the opposite that these two feelings cannot exist together. But I can positively affirm they can exist together.

Thank you Rajan! Both can exist together till the jealousy is within limit. Beyond a limit, jealousy can play havoc in a relationship.

Love can make us crazy alright but if it works out then it is alright. Love the music.

@gypsy rose Love surely makes us do crazy things. But then all's well that ends well.
